Established by husband and wife team James and Marie McCrindle in 1989, South Tyne Drilling has established itself as a leading expert in the landfill drilling industry.

Over the last 16 years we have expanded dramatically to cope with the increased demand our expertise, efficiency and first class service has experienced. We now employ 8 members of staff including two additional family members, Paul and Mark McCrindle. This ensures despite our growth we retain all the quaities of a close family run business, which have allowed us to offer a personal and specific service to each client, a key ingredient in our continued success for the last two decades. We are a progressive and forward thinking company. To ensure we successfully meet all our clients' requirements, and retain our position as a market leader, we are continually researching and developing new practices and techniques. Although based in Newcastle Upon Tyne our work is far from restricted to the North East Of England. We work throughout both the UK and Ireland. Both local councils and private companies have benefitted from the excellent drilling services we offer in this specialised field. All of our drilling staff are fully trained in site safety and first aid, as well as being certified for all necessary plant machinery.

Our Services....

South Tyne Drilling use continuous flight augers to drill gas monitoring and/or leachate boreholes through landfill. These boreholes are drilled at 200mm, 300mm or 350 mm diameter, to depths of up to 30 metres. Once the borehole is drilled, pipe will be installed inside the borehole and then sealed using bentonite and gravel. This is all completed to the clients specifications. The borehole is then completely prepared to be connected to a gas system. All of our drilling rigs are mounted onto tracks. This enables us to access areas other rigs couldn't and also reduces the need for platforms to be built to support our rigs.
