About Us
We are a family run business based in Weeping Cross, Stafford who specialise in high quality locally sourced meat and fine foods. A warm welcome, professional service and advice together with some of the tastiest tender local meats around are but a few reasons why we are reputed to be one of the elite butchers of today. By selecting the finest locally sourced meats in carcase form it enables us to have full control of the hanging (maturing) of the meat on the bone for fantastic succulent flavour and superbly tender meat. Another advantage with having whole carcase's is that it allows our skilled butchers to use traditional and modern methods of butchering to offer you the complete choice of any cut of meat you may need.
Fresh Meat
At M Mottershead we only ever select the finest locally sourced meats in carcase form, to ensure that we have full control of the hanging (maturing) of the meat on the bone which guarantees you a succulent and tender piece of meat every time. Our skilled and highly experienced butchers use both traditional and modern methods of butchering to meet the individual needs of our customers.
Cheeses
We stock a fantastic range of English and Continental cheeses, from the infamous and very distinctive Stinking Bishop and the traditional Blue Stilton to the king of all Brie's, brie Des Meaux. Due to the extensive range of cheeses that we stock we have made life a little easier for you by categorising them into the country of origin. We are always on the look out for new cheeses to share with our valued customers, so if you find a cheese that you think we may like, don’t forget to tell us about it! Or if you’re after a certain cheese and can’t get hold of it just let us know when you’re next in-store and we’ll do our very best to get it for you. We are famous in the area for our fantastic cheese selection, especially the more exclusive and hard to get hold of ones. So if you are after a specific cheese that you just can’t get anywhere else, there may be a small chance that someone may have beat you to it. But don’t worry we can always order you another one!
Useful Information For Storing Meat
It is important to safely store meat in the fridge to stop bacteria from spreading and avoid food poisoning. The Food Standards Agency recommends storing raw meat and poultry in clean, sealed containers on the bottom shelf of the fridge, so they cannot touch or drip onto other food. Follow any storage instructions on the label and don’t eat meat after its use-by date and keep cooked meat separate from raw meat.
