Hegner U.K. was established by Roger and Veronica Buse to distribute the Fretsaw / Scrollsaw machines manufactured by Hegner Präzisionsmaschinen GmbH in Schwenningen, Germany. With a long experience of woodworking and woodworking machinery, Roger was well placed to understand the needs of hobbyists and professionals alike and to promote the machinery. Paramount from the beginning has been the need to hold good stocks of machinery, spares and accessories. From a base acting as the U.K. and Ireland agent for Hegner. Roger & Veronica build up the business both by expanding the range of Hegner Products sold and by complimentary ventures and product ranges. The Hegner branch of the business goes from strength to strength and the UK agency is now one of the most successful Hegner agencies around the world.
Perhaps the most significant of these new ventures has been the introduction in 1996 of the revolutionary VB36 Master Bowlturner lathe designed by Nigel Voisey, arguably the worlds foremost designer of heavy-duty woodturning lathes, in conjunction with Roger.
With the introduction of this manufacturing facility the business was turned into Hegner UK Ltd. in 1995 as an umbrella identity for both operations.
Even more recently the company has launched UNIcut UK to market the UNIcut a Slovenian product which offers the woodworker, radial arm multi-functionality at an affordable price by capitalising on the power tools already owned by most woodworkers.
In 2000 the company was appointed the U.K. and Ireland agent of Kelton Industries in New Zealand who manufacture a wide range of specialist turning tools and chucks for the enthusiastic woodturner. They will be marketed by the company under the banner of Kelton Tools.
Everyone in Hegner was devastated when Veronica died suddenly in December 2002; as were so many of our customers who had come to know her well over many years. Veronica was an unfailing support to Roger during the formative years of this and his previous business and a purveyor of good, down to earth advice. Her influence on the business is still felt. The staff all rallied round and supported Roger in his loss. Smoothly rearranging their workloads so that it gave him the space to adjust his life.
As Hegner UK Ltd continues to develop, the world of woodworking can look forward to a continuous program of development and product acquisition to serve the need of woodworkers. To join us call now on 01323 442440, or visit our website.
