About Us and the Newark Lodge Guest House Accommodation

Newark Lodge Guest House dates back to the 17th century and has all the charm of a Tudor cottage with beautiful old ships timbers used in the construction. Sheila and Mike Spratt, who have been hoteliers all their working lives, welcome you to the comfort of this fine house, where you will receive professional and friendly attention.

All our bedrooms are on the first floor and are accessed by stairs. All bedrooms are ensuite, 2 doubles and 2 singles. Our prize bedroom has a kingsize sleighbed with a rolltop bath and double shower ensuite. ALL bedrooms have a hospitality tray with a good selection of teas, coffees and biscuits etc, Trouser press, hairdryer, and ofcourse FREE wireless Boradband, plus remote control T.V's In all the rooms you will find a very high quality of toiletries including shower cap, nail files, sowing kit everything you could possibly need, and if there is anything else you need just ask, we are here to look after you.

Breakfasts cooked to order are served in the splendour of the dining room which over looks the drawing room with it's inglenook fireplace and a wealth of beams. The town of Newark, located on the river Trent, is steeped in history with such names as Charles 1st, Lord Byron and King John just to mention a few. Drowning in antiques, with it's world famous "Antiques Fair" which takes place six times a year. People come from all over the world just to view the three thousand stalls at each antiques fair. Newark has 2 theatres, a good range of shops, museums and arts centres. Nearby is Southwell, with it's very fine Minister dating back to Norman times, and of course the most famous forest in the universe "Sherwood Forest", and hey you might just bump into Robin Hood or Maid Marion! All the sports from 5 golf courses to all-weather horse racing, fishing, boating. A short ride by car or train takes you to Lincoln with it's stunning Cathedral or you may choose to visit Nottingham with it's castle and where you may shop till you drop!! We are within staggering distance of some super pubs which serve food.
