Farnsfield Pharmacy Limited: providing healthcare in the community
We're here to protect your health: as a service-oriented pharmacy, we can provide expert advice on all health matters based on the latest research.
In addition to the usual wide range of medicines, we stock a good selection of mobility aids at competitive prices.
Farnsfield Pharmacy Limited's services
As a community pharmacy contracted to the local NHS, we provide a wide range of services
* dispensing - we dispense prescriptions promptly and accurately and can provide comprehensive advice on dispensed medications
* prescription collection - we collect prescriptions from Farnsfield surgery every weekday morning and lunchtime. We aim to have these dispensed and ready for you within 24 hours of collection. Please remember that we may not receive your prescription until a full day after you order it, so you need to allow at least 48 hours from the time you order it to the time you collect it. We can also collect prescriptions from other local surgeries by arrangement.
* prescription delivery - we can deliver your prescription if you are unable to get in to the pharmacy to collect it.
* disposal of unwanted medicines - we can arrange safe destruction of medicines you no longer need. Just bring them in and we will deal with them for you. Unfortunately, we cannot dispose of needles or diabetic lancets.
* healthy living advice - we participate in regular campaigns run by the local NHS to help you take care of your health. We can also provide advice and information on a wide range of health-related subjects such as healthy eating, exercise and stopping smoking.
Our team will be happy to help you
Nigel obtained his Bachelor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Bath in 1984. After a year's compulsory pre-registration training at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield, he became a Member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society of Great Britain in 1985, entitling him to practise as a Pharmacist.
He took over the ownership of Farnsfield Pharmacy in February 2003 when he purchased it from the previous owners. Since then he has built up a strong team who work hard to offer a professional but friendly service to the people of Farnsfield and the surrounding area.
Rosalind Roberts
Dispensary Manager
Rosie began her pharmacy career as a Student Pharmacy Technician at King's Mill Hospital, Sutton-in-Ashfield. On completion of a challenging two-year course, she qualified with a BTec in Pharmaceutical Sciences, and quickly became known for her hard work and professional attitude. She gained promotion to the level of Senior Technician and eventually found herself managing the Outpatient Dispensary at the hospital, supervising and training junior pharmacists, pre-registration trainees and technicians.
Seeking a change of environment, Rosie joined the staff of Farnsfield Pharmacy in August 2007. She has brought with her a wealth of knowledge and experience and has helped to make our approach more patient-focussed.
In 2009, Rosie trained as a Level 2 Smoking Cessation Advisor and can now offer support from the pharmacy premises to people in the area who would like to stop smoking.
Iain McLarty
Pharmacy Technician/Business Manager
Iain has made a complete change of career direction in coming to work at Farnsfield Pharmacy, having spent more than 30 years in the corrugated packaging industry. Initially joining the staff on a part-time basis in a mainly administrative role, he was soon forced by increasing workloads to extend his hours and train first as a Dispensing Assistant, then as a Pharmacy Technician, a qualification he gained at the end of 2008.
Iain is always keen to introduce new ideas to the pharmacy, and has recently been responsible for our new range of mobility and disability aids.
Sushma Suchak
Pharmacy Technician
Sushma (Sue) is the longest-serving employee, having worked at Farnsfield Pharmacy since it first opened on Station Lane in 1998. Initially employed to run the shop area, Sue trained as a Dispensing Assistant, then as a Pharmacy Technician at the same time as Iain.
Although quiet and reserved, Sue is very hard-working, knowledgeable and helpful, and can usually tell the rest of us where things are!
Dawn Hatley
Dispensing assistant
Dawn is another longstanding employee inherited from the previous owners of Farnsfield Pharmacy. She was initially taken on as a Saturday assistant. Later she trained as a Dispensing Assistant, gaining the National Pharmaceutical Association Dispensing Assistant's certificate in 2006.
Dawn is a very kind, caring person, always willing to offer a helping hand, a supportive hug or a shoulder to cry on. She is well-known in the village, having lived in Farnsfield for many years, and also as our regular delivery driver.
Julie McBroom
Medicines Counter Assistant
Julie has only worked at Farnsfield Pharmacy since June 2009 but she has quickly become a valued member of our team. A cheerful, friendly person, with a warm, welcoming manner, she has become very popular with staff and customers.
Julie is currently studying for the National Pharmaceutical Association Counter Assistant's certificate, a nationally-recognised qualification which must be obtained by anyone working on the medicines counter in a pharmacy.
