Category: Osteopaths
My name is Chris Mote and I have practised in Pinner for 32 years. I am a fully qualified Osteopath who is registered and insured with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC). I specialise in acute problems and try to see any patient on the same day or the next day.
Osteopathy is a physical therapy designed to diagnose and treat a vast range of skeletal dysfunctions which may cause pain and restriction whick can often interfere with daily activity. An initial consultation involves a full medical history and performing a physical examination to assess the problem. After the clinical diagnosis has been made, the osteopath will discuss the most appropriate treatment for you. Treatment is designed to correct the structural and functional faults which cause either acute or chronic pain and restriction.
Treatments are highly individual but often involve massage, gentle mobilisation and joint manipulation. The osteopath may also use electrotherapy. Treatment aims to rapidly alleviate symptoms, however you may well be given lifestyle advice - diet, exercise and posture - to help maintain long term well being. Because it is so common, backache accounts for nearly half the work-load of the average osteopath. However, many other conditions affect the body frame. Sports injuries, joint pain, head pain, some breathing difficulties, digestive troubles, postural stress, occupational stress, tension states, in fact problems ranging from birth trauma to the arthritis of old age, bring patients to osteopaths.
