Carlton Cars have a unique legacy being one of the longest established Private Car Hire services in the UK. The Company was first established in 1966 incorporating in 1974 by Mr. F Leaney Licensed London taxi driver badge No. 26711 and the first Private Hire License in London, Numbered 0001/01/01.
Fred Leaney stayed as Principal Director but the company has been managed by Eddie Townson the Company's current General Manager since September 1987. Eddie Townson is Licensed 0003/01/01. He Chairs The Private Hire Board and sits on the Private Hire User Liaison Committee with The Public Carriage Office, and has worked towards Licensing in London since 1988, the law that finally achieved success in 1998.
Carlton Cars only uses Fully Licensed Private Hire drivers serving Bexley, Bromley, Greenwich and the South East including many shops, stations, airports and the local council. Carlton is ISO 9000(2008) registered with TUV since 1997 GB00076 and is currently working towards ISO 14000.
