When most people choose taps for their bathroom more often than not they make their selection based on price, style or a combination of the two. But how do you know that the taps you have purchased are suitable? Sounds like a strange question I know, and how many of you out their who have purchased taps and more specifically shower valves recently were actually asked that question prior to making your purchase? The problem is that not enough companies ask this very question and the simple fact is that a lot of consumers are sold products which are totally unsuitable for their home. The whole issue is pressure related and because properties throughout the UK employ different methods to heat and distribute their domestic water supply choosing the correct tap or shower is crucial. For example you can fit a very stylish, possibly very expensive set of brand new taps on your bath and they ll look very nice. However if those taps are designed to work at a certain minimal pressure and your water supply does not generate sufficient pressure youre going to be waiting a long time to have a bath. Now thats a fairly simple example of the type of problem than can and does occur all too often, and the problem is in many cases once products like that have been fitted many companies wont take them back because technically theres nothing wrong with the taps themselves. In recent years the problem has been further complicated by a number of issues, thermostatic cartridges in showers and some taps, the fact that certain imported ranges of brassware only cater for higher pressures, but the main issue is simply the enormous range of brassware products now available to choose from.
