Clarke Nicholls & Marcel are consulting civil and structural engineers established in 1946, based in Cheltenham serving through out the UK. We are specialists in building design for both new construction and for repair, conversion and alteration of existing buildings, large or small.

Clarke Nicholls & Marcel design the foundations, walls, columns, beams, floors and roofs which form the building structure. We are also involved in the design and construction of all types of buildings from houses, schools and shop units, to office blocks, factories, sports stadia and hospitals. Clarke Nicholls & Marcel also design roads, bridges, retaining walls and drainage, as required for the development of sites.

Where the stability of any property is affected by subsidence, fire, accident vibration or adjacent building works we can carry out a survey, prepare a report, liaise with the insurance company, design any necessary remedial works, obtain tenders and permissions and administer the contract of repairs. If you are buying a property, or have a structural problem, or wish to extend/alter a building, or construct a new one, we can provide the following services: Surveying land and buildings, including monitoring of cracks; Inspecting and reporting on the condition of structures; Designing extensions and alterations to existing structures; Designing remedial works, such as underpinning or strengthening; reparing calculations and working drawings; Obtaining tenders and Building Regulation consents; Administering contracts for construction or repairs; Advising on structural matters in legal cases and disputes.
