The spyglass has gone down hill a little bit lately. I have not enjoyed the food as much and find the service is lacking. No offence to the young students etc employed within this business but it does feel as if they don't want to be there half of the time and they could probably see this as a sort of ‘McJob'.The last time I had a meal at the Spyglass I ordered Fish and chips and had to wait for 1hour 15 minutes to get my order, even though there were only about 10 people ordering. I wasn't too worried as I knew from previous orders that they provide good grub, however on this occasion the battered fish was burnt and the chips where cold.I didn't let this experience put me of and decided to visit again a few weeks later. Once again I had a bad experience and had long waiting times and fussy staff, I even heard the manager shouting at one of his employees, not something the customer would want to hear.In all fairness, this was about 6 months ago and I have heard they have made improvements to their service and food. I would still recommend visiting as I know they have provided great grub in the past at very reasonable prices. Sitting outside is a joy as you can see right over Weymouth beach (lovely site).

The spyglass is one of my favourite places to hang out, whether that is just having a quiet drink or a meal. I do love all the improvements they have made with the way the pub is presented; it has really brightened the pub up giving it a modern, prestige feel to it. I really love the cavalry that they now provide with the best Yorkshire puddings i have ever tasted. The view is also beautiful with an outdoor area looking out onto Weymouth bay and also the hills of Boleze cove. I would choose this pub as my favourite.

I have always enjoyed the spyglass for many years, going there for special occasions or just for a meal with friends. You can chill out outside while watching your children play on the play area, and enjoy the cold breeze looking down onto Weymouth. The food is really nice with a new system of table service, which means you don't have to line up and wait to pay, which is a bit of a pain in the summer. The lighting in the building creates a modern and romantic atmosphere with chandeliers and candles. There is also adequate parking, on the premises which means you don't have to walk for miles.
