Meechs Menswear
Meechs Menswear is a long-established family businesses & they continue to expand & improve, make no mistake, this is truly a family business. Over 77 years in business is a very long time indeed. Yet at no time have Meech's fallen behind the times with fashion. Contributing to their success has been a policy of fair pricing.
Heading the business is Mr David Meech, managing director and son of the founder, the late Mr J.H Meech. Meechs Menswear are held in high esteem by customers and suppliers alike. Such support is rare these days - but for a firm such as Meechs it is almost automatic.
Mr. J.H. Meech opened our Weymouth Shop in 1928. This traded throughout the Second World War ran by his wife Ruth. In 1956 his son David joined the business after spending 2 years learning the trade at Dosson Brothers in Bridgewater.
In 1958 the business became a Private Limited Company. In 1972 the Weymouth shop was enlarged by expanding to next door. A branch was opened in Yeovil in 1971 and is managed by Michael Purchase nephew of David Meech. David's son Kevin joined the business in 1980 and his younger son Andrew in 1997 who opened the Meechs Menswear website in 2000.
Since we have had our website we have gone from strength to strength always improving and adding new products. For all our hard work have won some awards including:
E-Commerce Award awarded in Sept 2002, 2003 & 2005. We were selected as one of the final 6 from over 200 other South West based websites we haven't won yet but we have made it very far. This award was presented by Business Link, The Sunday Times, Cisco, RBS & the UK Government.
The Broadband Britain Challenge was awarded in August 2003. We were selected as one of the final 10 from over 1000 other South West based companies using Broadband. This award was presented by Paul Ross sponsored by the UK Government.
The Golden Web Award is our Newest award, awarded Feb 2004. This is awarded to websites with excellent content and original design. This award was presented by The International Association of Webmasters and Designers of America.
There is a nice feeling of informality in our shops with assistants on hand if required, but by no means a nuisance if you merely want to look around. And rarely does there appear to be any shortage of stock - draws, rails, cupboards & display cabinets being everywhere and all full of clothes.
