Carlisle is a city in Cumbria in the North West of England, close to the border with Scotland. A historic city, Carlisle has a compact yet comprehensive city centre that hosts a castle, a cathedral and semi intact city walls. As you would expect with such a historic city, it has some highly acclaimed museums including the Tullie House Museum And Art Gallery and The Guildhall Museum which resides above Carlisle's only medieval house. The city is also an important logistics centre due to its excellent road links with the M6 motorway heading south into England, the M74 to Glasgow and the A69 to Newcasle being just a few of the important routes that start or finish there.
