Clives Yoga classes for all ages....
Yoga is described as being a mixture of suppleness, strength, stamina and concentration. The advantage of Yoga is that you can develop all of these with regular practice.
Yoga promotes suppleness; being able to bend, stretch and achieve flexibility through correct posture and movement. This improves the way your muscles work and will help to keep you active as you get older.
Yoga increases stamina by working on the cardiovascular system, and will help you to keep going for longer without feeling tired. Yoga will improve your strength, increase bone density and help boost the immune system.
Concentration is an important aspect of Yoga; relaxing the mind promotes a feeling of well being, and this plays an important part in all classes that Clive teaches.
About Clive....
Clive has been practicing Yoga for over eight years. What started as simple curiosity developed into an ever deepening experience that has led to extensive travel and study. All Yoga is called 'Hatha' Yoga and Clive have studied with a variety of teachers and a wide range of 'styles' including Iyengar, Ashtanga, Bikram, Sivananda, Power Yoga, remedial and yoga therapy, and yoga for pregnancy. As well as the UK, I have also studied extensively in India (Delhi, Rishikesh and Trivandrum), Nepal (Kathmandu) and the USA (Miami, Detroit).
Clive gained his first three teaching Diplomas from the Sivananda Centre in Neyyar Dam, South India and from the internationally renowned teacher, Jimmy Barkan from the Yoga College of India in Florida. As well as one to one instruction or tuition, Clive also teaches in various health clubs, leisure and community centres and spas in Berkshire and Buckinghamshire areas. As well as being a member of the British Wheel of Yoga Clive is also a registered teacher with the Yoga Alliance (USA).
You may take whatever you like from Yoga - from the physicality of the practice to its more spiritual offering - there is something for everyone. Clive prefers to concentrate on Asana, Pranayama and Dhyana - physical exercise, incorporation of the breath, and meditation.
All ages, abilities and body types are welcome to Clive's classes. He can teach beginners through to intermediate. Beginners' classes consist of basic postures and exercises with an introduction to breath work and in the more advanced classes we will sometimes turn up the temperature so the heat really sinks into the body. With practice the experience becomes more free flowing and aerobic.
