About me
Hi. My name's Rob, and I'm a handyman based in Emmbrook (near Wokingham) in Berkshire.
I spent 20 years in an office job, looking forward to every weekend so I could get on with my list of DIY projects.
Then it dawned on me - why not spend the working week doing the work I really enjoy?
So now I'm working as a painter, decorator and handyman. And I love it!
I set up my business in 2007, and so far it's going really well. I'm usually booked up a month or so in advance (but if you have an urgent job, it's always worth contacting me anyway), and
I've recently taken on one or two "extra pairs of hands" on a part-time/occasional basis to help get through the volume of work.
What I do (and what I don't do!)
I guess part of what I like about my job is the variety. Although roughly half of my work is painting and decorating, I also do (deep breath!) tiling, some electrical work, some plumbing work (nothing to do with gas or boilers - I'm not CORGI registered), some carpentry, odd jobs like putting up shelves, blinds, loft ladders and hatches, flat pack furniture, laminate flooring.... No two days are the same! In the summer (if we get one!), there's nothing I love more than laying patios - a good hard day's work in the sun never did anyone any harm!

Although much of my work so far has been domestic, I now have a number of small commercial/industrial customers, and also "educational institutions" (I'm fully police checked).
I'm happy to take on the smaller jobs that many larger businesses aren't interested in. I may not always be able to get to them straight away, as I "fit them in" around my larger projects, but I enjoy doing them when I can.
What is important to me/how I like to work
What matters to me is doing a job that my customers are really pleased with.
This starts with our first meeting, trying to get as clear an understanding as possible about what it is you want to achieve, and giving you some alternatives to think about.
On jobs that are more than a day's work, I'll give you a written estimate, so you know in advance how much the job will cost. If the price is acceptable, we'll arrange a time and a date that's acceptable too, and once it's in the diary, it's fixed - I hate tradesmen who don't turn up when they say they will!
I take pride in my work, and always try to deliver the best quality job I can. I believe the results of this are reflected in that fact that over 40% of my work is already repeat business from existing customers. To see what my customers think, please visit the "References" page of my web site.
