Gemini Technology.

Gemini Technology is a Reading based company which specialises in the design and manufacture of complex engineering equipment. We design and manufacture a large range of components, from small piece parts to large 'turn key' systems incorporating pc/plc controllers. Gemini was founded in 1994 with staff experienced in the design and manufacture of unique and often technically demanding equipment, predominantly for scientific and nuclear related industries.

High levels of radiation often present design problems when selecting materials that will not degrade or deteriorate. Robotic Equipment Back Our sample changers are designed to measure very low levels of radiation from environmental samples (meat, grass, soil, seaweed, etc). Each sample is placed in a lead shielded chamber for up to 8 hours at a time. Automatic Sample Changers These are highly polished steel tanks for transferring ink on a pen refill production machine. These tanks are double walled to allow a jacket of hot water to circulate and keep the ink fluid. Ink Transfer Vessels This is equipment designed for the calibration of radiation monitors under safe and controlled conditions. The machine will select and expose one of eight different activity sources that are stored in the heavy lead shielded housing. A CCTV system displays the readings from the instrument under test in the adjacent control room. Calibration Equipment These are a selection of components manufactured for the food production industry Food Industry Equipment Very sensitive detectors are used for checking the absorption into the body of very low levels of radiation. Typically used at nuclear power stations. Because the levels being monitored are so low the whole body monitor has to be constructed from materials that will not raise the background levels. All the equipment is housed in a lead/steel room, with the steel often recovered from pre second world war ships. Whole Body Monitor Designed to simultaneously expose 3 small gamma sources. Typical applications include waste drum scanners for measuring the level of radiation within the drums. Tri Source Exposure System Facility designed to calibrate dental x-ray films. Two x- ray generators are used to expose dental films through high precision exposure and safety shutters. It is also designed to operate category 3 safety requirments. X-Ray Calibration Unit This system is designed to automatically expose film badges and QFE devices to a small Cs_137 gamma source for the purpose of calibration. The source is stored in a lead shielded housing and is electrically lifted to the exposure position via a fail safe mechanism. Film Badge & QFE Calibration Facility.
