I bought a Mercedes A-Class from these cowboys , which failed on the way home! I took it back and demanded my money back as per my rights under the sales of goods act. They refused, saying that I'd bought the car for parts and not as a car. Please avoid these guys like the plague or you will regret it!

I am sorry to hear that you too have been taken advantage of by these car con men, but as you have discovered, you are not the only one. I would first advise placing your review of the company online at this and the following websites: • http://directory.independent.co.uk/company/shaahgroup/7086736 • http://www.touchluton.com/business/list/bid/7086736 This will help to warn potential new customers of the garage, damaging the company’s reputation, hopefully making them listen to customer concerns. Regarding your situation, without knowing the exact circumstances, my best recommendation would be to send them a letter regarding the issue, including what you’re proposing they do about it. Make sure to include a deadline by what time you expect to have a reply (minimum of 14 days), and to send it by recorded delivery. Remember to check that the letter has actually been sent and not just waiting in the post office for them (a mistake I made) as they open the garage at 10:30 and won’t pick up the letter, even if they say they will. Most importantly, keep a record/proof of everything you have sent and when you have sent it. Remember, if it is a faulty car you have purchased, you will need have it investigated by a professional mechanic, and then enclose a copy of their report with the letter; you can claim back the cost of this from the garage if you are successful. Also, don’t forget to mention about the Sales of Goods Act on your letter, to give your claim some legal backing (can be found on http://www.autotrader.co.uk/advice/2010/09/buying/returning-a-car).

I recommend calling them once in a while, whilst waiting for a response, just to show you are serious about the situation. However, as I have found out, don’t over do this and try to solve the matter over the phone as this is of no use and will just cause you more frustration. If you have not heard from them within the two weeks, or not had a positive response to your request, you will need to send a final letter explaining that if they don’t give them what you want, you will take them to court. You will need to give another 2 weeks notice with this letter; I know this will mean that you have waited over 4 week, but if you do take the case to court, you will need to show you have tried your best to solve the matter before being forced to go to court. If you still have not had a reply, you will need to place a ‘small claim’ using the HMCS Money Claim Online (MCOL) service (assuming your claim is less then £5000). You will need to pay a fee of around £80 and write a short statement of the situation, and then hand the matter over to the courts; again, you can claim back this court fee if you are successful. Hopefully, the official threat of a court cases looming against them should be enough for them to respond (the stage I’m currently at), but you can’t do this before completing what I have mentioned previously. I hope your situation resolves itself as soon as possible and you don’t have to wait long for a positive respond. Whether you wish to take the matter further or not, do complete a review of the company on the websites mention. Also, if you can find the time, please write to BBC’s Watchdog about your story, bringing to light Shaah Groups dodgy dealings and putting them out of business for good! Please don’t hesitate to contact me on ta88c@hotmail.co.uk if you need further information or advice, and I will do my best to help. Good Luck!

Bought a Ford Focus and a 3 month warranty in August '10. Within the 3 month warranty, the nearside coil spring and the roll bar link snapped. Judging by the look of the rust on the coil spring, it had happened a while ago (before we bought it). And this is where the fun begins.... Tried to get it fixed under warranty. Been told repeatedly that they don't do warranties (despite paying for one). Asked a number of times to speak to the manager, to be told "He's not here, he's at the other garage", "He's at home", "He's on his way in", "He'll ring you back" etc etc. Today I find out that the V5 (change of ownership) has never been sent to the DVLA. Top it all off, I've had to pay £312 to have the car fixed (coil spring, roll bar link and a new tire) despite it being covered under warranty!

I am also now in the process of taking Shaah Group to court regarding their dodgy dealings and disgraceful customer service. If anyone has had similar experiences with the company, or perhaps is in their own legal battle, please forward your stories and issues to ta88c@hotmail.co.uk; lets give them a lesson to remember.

We bought a car from this so called garage 31.12.10 on returning home the car would not go into reverse, I telephoned the company and was told the manager would be in contact!! Surprise surprise this didn't happen, so I drove the car to the garage a few days later on my way there the power steering went I was very lucky to avoid a accident. They still have the car and our money! Trading standards are involved And I have contacted watchdog, i am now taking them to court! Anyone wishing to help my case by there stories email me lawmonkey@hotmail.co.uk so we can get this dodgy company closed down for good.

I bough a car from the garage a few weeks ago and have been very disappointed by the car I've been sold. They straight out lie to you about the condition of the car, and make you believe your getting a good deal. Their advertisement line of "WE UNIQUE SOURCES SO WE WON'T BE BEATEN ON PRICE!" is another way of putting that "we badly fix up accident damaged and faulty car and sell them to you for just below the market price". Contacting them afterwards is a no go as well, as they simply don't take any notice of you after you walk out the door. Highly recommend staying clear of this garage, as that car you think will be a little bargain, will end up costing you a small fortune.

Stay away. Was sold a very faulty car that was said to be 'mechanically and electrically working perfectly'. I've been trying to ask for a refund but they put the phone down as soon as they realise it's me; I live quite far away and they are taking full advantage. AVOID SHAAH GROUP AT ALL COSTS, you will regret ever going there. You have been warned.
