I cannot bring myself to register one star for any of the categories above. We had a solar hot water system installed for £5000 by A Greener Place in April 2010, a decision we have bitterly regretted ever since. Right from the start of use, the overflow dripped continuously onto our new roof and folding glass windows. We were told that this was not a problem, but it was for us! It was not until December that we began to realise that we were actually in danger. I switched the shower on one morning and there was no hot water. Over the following 2 weeks, we had 5 visits from A Greener Place's heating engineers who could find nothing wrong. On Christmas Eve, I had had enough of no hot water and called the manufacturers (Vaillant) out urgently. They were alarmed when they arrived on site. The system had been incorrectly installed, an unvented system too which, as we were told, could take your whole house out if it goes. Wiring was faulty and dangerous and a solar system is not sufficient to supply hot water throughout the winter.
