Our search is probably one of the fastest for prefix and current style number plates and allows you to use more search options eg. single, double or treble letter input.

When deciding on your personalised number plates the first thing to consider is which style you prefer. Prefix Car Registration Numbers are DVLA number plates with the year letter at the beginning of the number plates and examples may be as follows: S10 AMS or S5 NOW or D5 SLM. Registration numbers within this category always have three letters and may be proceeded by the numbers 1 to 999 plus the prefix indicators excluding I, O, Q, U and Z. Prefix plates were issued by DVLA from 1983 until 1999. We still have around 20 million Personalised number plates from DVLA for sale. Dateless DVLA Personalised number plates such as TRD 900 and BTR 199 are considered 'original cherished number plates' and whilst they are very desirable, they usually have the greatest value because the letters come first in the combination. Numberplates within this category with three letters may be followed by the numbers 1 to 999. Combinations within this category with two letters may be followed by the numbers 1 to 9999 and date back as far as 1903. Reversed Dateless British Car Registration Numbers such as 49 VWC and 8 WPD are called 'reversed personalised registrations' and sometimes have a slightly less value to the original cherished marks. Numberplates within this category with three letters may be preceded by the numbers 1 to 999. Combinations within this category with two letters may be preceded by the number range 1 to 9999.

Suffix Car Registration Numbers are registrations with the year letter at the end of the numberplates and examples may be as follows: WES 57T or WES 77T or CWA 7T . Registration numbers within this category always have three letters and are followed by the number range 1 to 999 plus the suffix letters A through to Y, excluding I, O, Q, U and Z. Irish Car Registration Numbers such as TIL 3 or SZ 5650 are issued with two or three letters first containing at least one I or Z, followed by between one and four numbers. Old Southern Irish Personalised number plates such as SZ 9207 are rare but may be found from time to time. This range of registration marks always contain an I or a Z and a number between 1 and 9999.
